Bernhard Witt saw how much time survey QA cost: issues passed around the world by email, testers who could not reproduce what a colleague had found, survey authors guessing which version a screenshot came from.
At the same time, Jim Sugrue and his team were building something similar for a client. When the two found out about each other, they joined forces, with Bernhard’s team leading the development. Jim has since retired; the idea the two shared is still at the heart of the product: one place where everyone on a survey sees the same thing.
Since then SurveyTester has been rebuilt more than once, for new survey platforms, stricter security requirements and new technology. Today bots test every route of a survey, AI checks it against the questionnaire, and teams find, fix and re-check issues in one place.
